Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to join our home health care team. As a Home Health Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide rehabilitative services to patients in their homes. Your role will involve assisting with assessments, implementing treatment plans, and guiding patients in therapeutic activities to enhance their independence and quality of life. Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the supervising Occupational Therapist in conducting initial and ongoing assessments of patients' functional abilities, home environments, and occupational roles.
  2. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop individualized treatment plans based on patients' goals, medical history, and home environment, ensuring alignment with therapeutic objectives.
  3. Provide hands-on assistance and instruction to patients during therapeutic activities, exercises, and functional tasks to improve motor skills, coordination, endurance, and independence in activities of daily living (ADLs).
  4. Implement therapeutic interventions and modalities prescribed by the Occupational Therapist, including therapeutic exercises, manual techniques, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications.
  5. Educate patients and caregivers on proper techniques, safety precautions, and home exercise programs to support rehabilitation progress, promote self-management, and prevent re-injury.
  6. Document treatment sessions, progress notes, and patient responses accurately and in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards, maintaining confidentiality and integrity of patient information.
  7. Communicate effectively with the supervising Occupational Therapist, other healthcare team members, and family members to coordinate care, address concerns, and promote continuity of care.
  8. Monitor patients' responses to treatment, report any changes or concerns to the Occupational Therapist, and assist in modifying treatment plans as needed to achieve therapeutic goals.
  9. Facilitate patient and caregiver understanding of community resources, support services, and adaptive strategies to optimize independence and participation in daily activities.
  10. Maintain professionalism, ethical standards, and compliance with state licensure requirements and organizational policies, while promoting a culture of safety, respect, and teamwork.

Qualifications:

  1. Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program with an Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assisting.
  2. Current Maryland state licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  3. Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in occupational therapy, rehabilitation, or home health care with a minimum of 2 years
  4. .
  5. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with patients, families, and caregivers.
  6. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and principles of occupational therapy practice, with proficiency in therapeutic techniques and modalities.
  7. Ability to follow treatment plans, exercise protocols, and safety guidelines under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
  8. Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  9. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for home visits within the designated service area.
  10. CPR certification and other relevant certifications may be required, depending on state regulations and organizational policies.
  11. Commitment to professional growth, continuing education, and adherence to ethical standards of conduct in occupational therapy practice.
