Job Description Summary

The registered nurse preceptor will plan, organize, and deliver new hire orientation, and preceptor clinical and ancillary staff. Coordinate and oversee initial and annual competency programs for clinicians. Assist with on-site, in-person and e-learning education sessions, as well as support and further develop clinical content for new hire onboarding of clinicians, as directed. BSN preferred, RN required, with strong clinical home health/education experience.

 

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

Clinical staff competency is assessed upon hire, annually and as needed and programs are developed and implemented to maintain a baseline of core competencies.

Orientation and Preceptor Program is evaluated and updated to meet clinical staff needs; orientation schedule is developed and implemented.

Instructional design principles are used to develop programs.

Learning principles are applied in the development of clinician education materials.

Quality education needs are identified and implemented through collaboration with key stakeholders.

In-service education and training specific to identified needs is updated and conducted in collaboration with and under the direction of Corporate Leadership.

 

Communication:

Communicates with recruitment, and office level and corporate leadership to ensure the effectiveness of hiring, onboarding, training, and retention of qualified employees.

 

Additional Duties:

May participate in on-call duties as defined by the on-call policy.

Occasional coverage of patient visits in emergency

 

Position Qualifications

Registered nurse with current licensure to practice professional nursing in the state.

Graduate of National League for Nursing accredited school of nursing.

Maintains a current CPR certification.

Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state or organization requirements and is in good working order.

Five years progressively responsible clinical experience required; three years home health care experience preferred. Infusion and wound care experience a plus.

Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software.

Prior training or education experience preferred with knowledge of adult training principles

Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of certification regulations for home care

Strong written, verbal, and electronic communications skills

Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills and ability to work with a diverse population.

Ability to organize and prioritize workload independently.

Prolonged or considerable walking or standing. Able to lift, position, or transfer patients. Able to lift supplies and equipment. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, or crouching. Visual acuity and hearing to perform required nursing skills.
